His Excellency President Dr Irfaan Ali, who witnessed the signing yesterday, called it historic and said that it is a precursor to solid, long-lasting partnerships.

Several of the Memorandums of Understanding are within the oil and gas industry, including, the establishment of an oil refinery; the establishment of a petrochemical plant and a study for participation in Guyana’s Oil Exploration Block.

The two countries also aim to enhance their agriculture potential, cooperation and will team up to market both their sun and sand and nature base-tourism.

His Excellency President Dr Irfaan Ali and a high-level Government of Guyana delegation, held bilateral discussions this afternoon with the Dominican Republic’s President Luis Abinader and members of his cabinet at the National Palace in Santo Domingo.

Discussions focused on several areas of cooperation.

President Ali is on a two-day Official Visit to the Dominican Republic.

His Excellency President Dr Irfaan Ali, First Lady Mrs Arya Ali and a high-level delegation arrived in Santo Domingo this morning for an Official Visit to the Dominican Republic.

The Head of State and members of his delegation met with His Excellency, President Luis Abinader and members of his government, before commencing several meetings at the National Palace in the capital city.

Along with the government-to-government meetings, a number of private sector representatives from Guyana have also travelled to engage their counterparts from the Spanish-speaking nation on investment opportunities.

The Honourable Hugh Hilton Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation earlier today received a farewell courtesy call from outgoing High Commissioner of India to Guyana, His Excellency Dr. K.J. Srinivasa.

Minister Todd thanked the High Commissioner for his contributions towards strengthening the dynamic partnership between Guyana and India and reiterated the Government’s commitment to the furtherance of bilateral relations between the two countries. Dr. Srinivasa expressed his profound appreciation for the support extended by the Government of Guyana during his four-year tenure that resulted in several fruitful developmental initiatives and high-level visits.

His Excellency President Dr Irfaan Ali received a courtesy visit from United States Congressman Richard Crawford at the Office of the President on Shiv Chanderpaul Drive today.

Discussions focused on the prospect of a partnership between the Government of Guyana and the State of Arkansas in the area of agriculture, especially as it relates to education and private sector investment.

During the meeting, President Ali also spoke about the strong relations between Guyana and the US and Guyana’s pursuit of becoming a regional leader in energy security.

At the end of the meeting, President Ali presented Congressman Crawford with a signed cricket bat.

President Dr. Irfaan Ali and U.S. Congressman Rick Crawford discussed potential collaboration between Guyana and Arkansas in areas such as agriculture, education, and private sector investment during a meeting at the Office of the President.

Dr Ali also spoke about the strong relations between Guyana and the US and Guyana’s pursuit of becoming a regional leader in energy security.

Congressman Crawford was presented with a signed cricket bat by the President.

Also, present at the meeting were Chief of Staff of the Guyana Defence Force, Brigadier Omar Khan and Commissioner of Police (ag) Clifton Hicken.

His Excellency President Dr Irfaan Ali, yesterday, attended a reception in honour of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Guyana’s Embassy in Beijing.

The Head of State was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Honourable Hugh Todd. China’s Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hua Chunying, also attended the event.

His Excellency President Dr Irfaan Ali today met with the Premier of the People’s Republic of China, Mr Li Qiang, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

The two leaders discussed several areas of cooperation and committed to strengthening bilateral ties.

His Excellency President Dr Irfaan Ali toured the Chengdu Ronsheng Pharmaceutical Company-an affiliate of the China National Pharmaceutical Group Co. Ltd (Sinopharm), today.

Established in March 1997, Chengdu Rongsheng Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. mainly produces three types of blood products, namely albumin, immunoglobulin and coagulation factors, which use human plasma as raw materials, as well as genetically engineered recombinant blood products.

His Excellency President Dr Irfaan Ali was given a guided tour of the Chengdu Museum in China's Sichuan province, yesterday.

Established in 1958, Chengdu Museum is by far the largest comprehensive city museum in Southwest China as well as a national first-class museum.

The museum covers an area of about 11,333 square meters with a total floor area of around 65,000 square meters, of which about 20,000 square meters are devoted to exhibitions.
